Emilio Aguinaldo Proclamation, Malolos, January 5, 1899 In Larry Henares' program, a portion of the specialists - steadfast admirers of Aguinaldo-communicated the oft-rehashed see that the general neglected to accomplish enormity according to Filipinos essentially in light of the fact that he lived excessively long. He didn't kick the bucket youthful, in the blossom of youth, as Jacinto, or in some sundown of the divine beings way, as Bonifacio. He wasn't martyred, as Rizal, and he didn't bite the dust, penurious and dismissed, as Mabini. He just lived on, and on, until he became something like an outdated relict fit for staring at, however not for worship. Poor, unheralded man. Nobody at any point made it understood in the event that anybody inquired as to whether that is the thing that he felt. I would believe that Aguinaldo was exceedingly blessed to have lived for such a long time. He outlasted a significant number of his companions, however he additionally outlasted the entirety of his foes. He was scolded during his lifetime - now and again, in light of the fact that he included himself in governmental issues and along these lines made himself reasonable game-however he lived to see autonomy day moved to June 12. Isn't having lived long enough to be recounted that change a stunning accomplishment? Also, for an incredible duration, he had the reliability and dedication of the individuals who had a place with the League of the Veterans of the Revolution. The things held against him, the corrupt Tejeros Convention - one educator of history has called attention to that there were a greater number of votes cast than there were really individuals to cast them-which prompted the possible execution of Bonifacio, and the death of Gen. Antonio Luna which was an extraordinary hit to the military suitability of the powers of the Republic, may everlastingly ban him from arriving at the equivalent lifted up place in the expressions of love of the Filipino individuals. They will consistently frequent him. Be that as it may, they don't, I think, lessen his significance by any stretch of the imagination. The force battle - a bare overthrow d'‚tat, some have called it-that prompted Bonifacio's destruction makes for sickening perusing. Also, his execution was a poor end for a loyalist. Be that as it may, is such resentment over this, justified? Do individuals get furious about this in light of the fact that, in all actuality, they are applying semi strict profound quality to a subject that ought to be separated from it? For what reason should guidelines befitting strict sainthood be applied to common courage? Must you be â€Å"good† (in the manner in which individuals like Fr. Nudas would characterize it) to be a legend? A legend for a mainstream nation? At the point when Bonifacio's fitness to hold the arrangement of the branch of the Interior was addressed by Daniel Tirona, the Supremo, irate, requested a withdrawal. He neglected to get it. Enraged, he announced the procedures invalid and void, and left. NCC Chairman Laurel related proudly on Henares' program how his granddad, Sotero, leader of the Batangas designation at Tejeros, and a Bonifacio supporter, responded to the turmoil that followed. He called for lambanog. He drank, pulled out his weapon, and put it on the table. He requested that, as they had all consented to before, the choice of the larger part be regarded. Something else, mag ubusan na tayo. The lion's share agreed with Aguinaldo. Bonifacio (or, contingent upon how you see it, Aguinaldo) had declared war. As Sotero Laurel may have put it at that point, matira ang matibay. Aguinaldo won, clearly. The thing is, in a progressive circumstance, outrageous circumstances call for extraordinary measures. You can't delay and sort things out and rub inner selves while the foe attempts to murder all of you . Each insurgency wherever has been damaged with contending groups, huge numbers of whom carry on of not exactly honorable intentions. At long last, one gathering must win, one fate accomplished. The Revolution, for good or poorly, had its predetermination attached to Aguinaldo. While the development (from Mabini's perspective) floundered because of the Supremo's liquidation, it endured. It was suspended after biak-na-bato, continued once more, and brought forth the decree produced using a window of a house in Kawit on June 12. The decree of the Philippines as a free nation. The Republic didn't succeed. Was it Aguinaldo's issue? The deficiency of the Ilustrados? Did it fall flat due to contending perspectives and interests inside it, divisions that exist right up 'til the present time in our nation and in different nations with comparable narratives? Left to ourselves, they had as great a possibility of in the long run working them out as some other individuals on earth. Be that as it may, they weren't disregarded. They were repressed with krag rifles and American strategies. Praiseworthily, the Centennial Commission has clarified that it is the declaration and not the substance of autonomy that will be honored in 1998. An announcement whose goals have persevered. As have its images: our banner, our song of praise. Goals we endeavored to satisfy in 1946, desires each age attempts to satisfy up to the present. Aguinaldo was answerable for that revelation, that banner, that song of praise. He gave the country vessels to contain its spirit. We ought to have the option to pardon him for being an imperfect man and a poor lawmaker. Over and over, our pantheon of saints has been attacked by irate hordes, expectation on pulling down - or raising up high over the others-the sculptures of extraordinary Filipinos. We, who should, as befits an as far as anyone knows majority rule and liberal state, discover nothing incorrectly or dishonorable in having our legends stand one next to the other, stay fixated on building up brave progressive systems, just as the pioneers we worship were trivial princelings dependent upon Byzantine guidelines of priority. It is safe to say that we are a people contemptible of saints in any case?

How to Use Aromatherapy for Stress Relief

How to Use Aromatherapy for Stress Relief Stress Management Management Techniques Relaxation Print Using Aromatherapy for Relieving Your Stress By Elizabeth Scott, MS twitter Elizabeth Scott, MS, is a wellness coach specializing in stress management and quality of life, and the author of 8 Keys to Stress Management. Learn about our editorial policy Elizabeth Scott, MS Updated on January 13, 2020 Eastphoto/The Image Bank/Getty Images More in Stress Management Management Techniques Relaxation Physical Techniques Time Management Effects on Health Situational Stress Job Stress Household Stress Relationship Stress Aromatherapy has gained quite a bit of attention in recent years. Aromatherapy products, once somewhat exotic, have now sprung up on the shelves of even grocery store aisles. Aromatherapy candles, bath products, essential oils, and other products are now widely available and have been touted as effective in soothing babies, relieving stress and promoting healthy living. But does aromatherapy live up to the claims? Research Relatively little research is available on aromatherapy. While more studies are being done, its not as ‘proven’ as some other stress relievers. However, while further studies are needed, many studies have already shown aromatherapy’s benefits. Of the research that has been done to date, here are some of the findings: Preliminary research shows that aromatherapy can alter brain waves and behavior.Aromatherapy can reduce the perception of stress, increase contentment, and decrease levels of cortisol, the “stress hormone.”Lavender aromatherapy has indeed been shown to reduce crying in infants and promote sleep in infants and adults.Different aromatherapy scents bring different effects on people. (See this article for aromatherapy benefits of various scents.)One study showed that aromatherapy massage can have some beneficial effects on anxiety and depression.Massage with aromatherapy provides stronger and more continuous relief from fatigueâ€"especially mental fatigueâ€"than massage alone. As a Stress Relief Tool While aromatherapy isn’t the magic ‘cure-all’ that it’s sometimes made out to be, it does appear to have proven effects as a stress reliever. Aromatherapy is a nice tool for stress relief because it has few (if any) known side effects, can be used passively (you can fill the room with scent while you attend to other activities, relieving stress in the process), and can be easily combined with other stress relievers (like massage or meditation, for example), for increased stress relief. Aromatherapy products are also widely available, making aromatherapy a convenient option. Aromatherapy can be convenient, especially for busy people who need something quick. Here are some ideas for aromatherapy use: Candles Candles are great for aromatherapy.  Lighting a candle is probably one of the simplest ways to scent up a room and create a nice feel, so get some aromatherapy candles and let them burn. The candles, like incense, can also be used to create a more soothing atmosphere, or as a focal point for meditation. However, they may be more practical than some incense because they don’t give off as much smoke. Be sure that you get quality candles that give off a scent that’s potent enough to be smelled around the room. Diffusers Aromatherapy diffusers take essential oils and evaporate them through the air. This can be with the help of a candle or with batteries if you want to avoid the fire. Diffusers are great because they spread the scent quite effectively.  The battery-run ones can be safer than candlesâ€"no open fire involved.  This is another convenient method of creating a soothing atmosphere, and many of them look really nice as well, adding to the soothing vibe you should create anyway. Body Products Aromatherapy body products are great because they create a scent that follows you but can’t necessarily be smelled by others (unless they’re very close, in which case they probably won’t mind). You can rub aromatherapy lotion all over your skin, or dab a few drops of skin-safe essential oils on pulse points and enjoy the scent for hours. Best Aromatherapy Scents for Stress Relief Massage Aromatherapy combined with massage carried greater benefits than either strategy by itself. If you’re lucky enough to have someone who will trade aromatherapy massages with you, this can be a wonderful and cheap strategy for stress relief. If not, paying for a massage from a professional can be worth the money. Meditation Aromatherapy can enhance the relaxation benefits of meditation, providing  a focal point (as with incense meditation), and offering the passive stress relief benefits of aromatherapy. Even a five-minute meditation can bring benefits. Try the aromatherapy incense mediation or the aromatherapy bath mediation.

Religion Is The Involvement Of Women And The Roles That...

Our world is filled with a variety of different religions yet they all share common characteristics. They have some sort of history, or myth, which is often told as a story. They tend to develop doctrines, which are basically a set of principles that guide people’s actions. All religions have a wide variety of rituals, in which are practiced in their specific sacred place. Many different emotions are associated with religious experiences. Also, religion contains ethics, or morals, which offer a code of conduct for their followers to live through (Robson, 12-15). Although there are many differences between the diverse religions of the world, the similarities seem to be more apparent. One subject that seems to be underrepresented in the study of religion is the involvement of women and the roles that they play. â€Å"†¦there is much value in examining how women are perceived and treated in different traditions† (Anderson, xii). When analyzing the historical aspect of religion, there is a common theme of men being more prevalent in the religion than women. An example of this can be found in Judaism. This religion, along with a large variety of others, uses a male figure as their God. â€Å"Together, male God imagery and normative maleness constitute a powerful circular argument. Another problem with the male image of God is that it has ceased to function as a symbol and become an idol instead. As a consequence, what is worshipped is maleness instead of God† (Kuikman, 58).Show MoreRelatedReligion And Gender On Homosexuality994 Words   |  4 PagesReligion and Gender on Homosexuality Homosexuality can be seen as a highly controversial in today’s society. Essay on Reading in the Development of Imagination and Gender

Children are automatically drawn to what they feel relates to them the best. From clothes to games, and even literature, children are attracted to certain elements that separate what’s â€Å"girly† and what’s â€Å"boyish†. Most children literature is designed in a manner that attracts a specific crowd. The authors and illustrators of children literature take into consideration whether they want their book to be intended for girls or for boys. However, in the story Ramona Quimby, Age 8 by Beverly Cleary, deception as to which crowd the book was intended is shown throughout the story. The first thing that they often do is examine the books title for answers about the book and search for ways that they can relate to the book. With the title of this book Cleary wants to be sure that she captures the attention of her girl readers. Another interesting approach that Cleary took in regards to the title is the color choice. It is within the color choices that Cleary begins to show how gender is interchangeable in the book. There are several different versions of the cover for this book and in the majority of the titles the illustrator, Alan Tiegreen, works closely with the vision of Cleary and makes the title purple. The color purple is said to be â€Å"the perfect choice for feminine design, and is often used when promoting children products†. The poem support Essay Example For Students

The poem support Essay Explore how Porter comments on life in ‘A Consumer’s Report’. Use examples from the poem to support your answer.  Peter Porter opens his poem ‘A Consumer’s Report’ with the statement that ‘the name of the product I tested is Life’, implying that the ‘product’ which his poem describes is life in itself. The poem opens in the form of a product review, hinting that Porter believes life to be considered a product by many, and that the poem mimics a report in which people ‘review’ life as a product. The title ‘A Consumer’s Report’ suggests that the poet believes that many people detach themselves from the value of life, hence the bland description of their review, which is simply labelled a ‘report’. Porter maintains the sustained metaphor of life being a product throughout the whole poem in order to comment on people’s perception of life as a whole. We will write a custom essay on The poem support specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Porter first comments on life as ‘ it as a gift’, suggesting that he himself did not choose to live life, and comments on the spontaneous nature of life in which people are not able to choose what kind of life they will live in. He also carries on with ‘I didn’t feel much while using it’, suggesting that many people may not value their life while they are still living out the beginnings of it, and Porter gives evidence for this by suggesting that ‘I’d have liked to be more excited’ about receiving the product of life. Porter continues his sustained metaphor of life being a product when he describes it as ‘leaving an embarrassing deposit behind’, commenting on how actions that people take in life will lead to consequences. Porter also mentions that ‘the instructions are fairly large’, another likely suggestion that in life many things can be done, and therefore it is hard to follow the ‘right’ way of doing things, evidence which is given for when he continues with ‘I don’t know which to follow, especially as they seem to contradict each other’. This may hint at the vastly different beliefs, traditions and customs of different people that are all living, making it hard for him to live out his life properly. Another comment given on life is that ‘It’s difficult to think of a purpose for it’, hinting that the poet himself struggles to think of reason that the product of life is necessary, and carries on to suggest that ‘it’s just to keep its maker in the job’. Porter describes the product having ‘things†¦piling up so fast’, indication that life is full of events that we may find hard to handle, and the purpose of the product is once again questioned when he states ‘After all, the world got by†¦without us, do we need it now?’. There is also a side comment at the end of the stanza, enclosed in brackets to demonstrate how many people do not value other people’s opinions, and this is further evidenced by the fact that the poet is described as ‘the respondent’, and that he is just another person who is using ‘life’. Porter emphasises the vastly different beliefs and opinions that exist within life when he describes life as having ‘a lot of different labels’, and comments on how life is imperfect as ‘the shape is awkward†¦ (and) not heat resistant’. The poet also comments on the existence of problems in life, hinting at poverty when he comments on the fact that ‘whenever they make it cheaper they seem to put less in’, describing how people born into poverty will receive less of the benefits and opportunities of life. The lack of choice of living life is also described, with the poet suggesting that even ‘if you say you don’t want it, then it’s delivered anyway’, and how we are unable to choose for ourselves whether we live or not. .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 , .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .postImageUrl , .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 , .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:hover , .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:visited , .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:active { border:0!important; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:active , .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992 .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4f3dc25a75c56067397f40acde963992:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The inspector play EssayPorter also comments on the fact how life can be misused, suggesting that people who are using the product of life ‘are ready to behave badly about’. He also cites many people whose occupations are to investigate people’s opinions of life, such as ‘philosophers or market researchers or historians’, and explains how ‘we shouldn’t care’, and instead should form our own opinion on life as ‘we are the consumers’ of life and therefore ultimately our opinions are for ourselves to form, rather than for other people to dictate, and he gives evidence for this by suggesting ‘Finally, Iâ⠂¬â„¢d buy it’, demonstrating how the poet believes that in life everyone should be entitled to their own opinions. However, Porter still indicates that there is some negativity in life as he suggests ‘The question of a ‘best buy’ I’d like to leave until I get the competitive product you said you’d send’.

Free Essays on Advantages of Stupidity

Most people say being stupid will lead nowhere. They claim that it is the worst possible condition in which to spend one's life, and if possible, it should be completely avoided. Yet, perhaps if people took a closer look at some of the advantages stupidity had to offer, they wouldn't have such a negative attitude toward it. After reading this paper, one will understand the advantages of stupidity. Admittedly, stupidity has certain disadvantages. Life isn't a bowl of cherries. And being stupid doesn't make it any fruitier. Being stupid can annoy even the most sensitive people. If one acts stupid, and does it in the wrong crowd, like a group of adults, it will seem more immature than funny. If one is forced to act stupid while dealing with lower life forms, for example, high school teachers, one may encounter barriers such as cruelty and insensitivity, with the utterance of statements like, "Think with your head straight!" or, "You have a brain, use it." Yet these are all true, there are still many advantages to stupidity. The first advantage is very easy to understand. Stupid people are never asked to do a lot. How Ancient Hunters Used Desert Kites

How Ancient Hunters Used Desert Kites A desert kite (or kite) is a variation on a type of communal hunting technology used by hunter-gatherers throughout the world. Like similar ancient technologies such as buffalo jumps or pit traps, desert kites involve a collection of people purposefully herding a large group of animals into pits, enclosures, or off steep cliff edges. Desert kites consist of two long, low walls generally built of unmortared fieldstone and arranged in a V- or funnel shape, broad at one end and with a narrow opening leading to an enclosure or pit at the other end. A group of hunters would chase or herd large game animals into the wide end and then chase them down the funnel to the narrow end where they would be trapped in a pit or stone enclosure and easily slaughtered en masse. Archaeological evidence suggests that the walls dont have to be tall or even very substantialhistorical kite use suggest that a row of posts with rag banners will work just as well as a stone wall. However, kites cannot be used by a single hunter: it is a hunting technique that involves a group of people planning in advance and working communally to herd and eventually slaughter the animals. Identifying Desert Kites Desert kites were first identified in the 1920s by Royal Air Force pilots flying over the eastern desert of Jordan; the pilots named them kites because their outlines as seen from the air reminded them of the childrens toy kites. Extant remnants of kites number in the thousands, and are distributed throughout the Arabian and Sinai peninsulas and as far northward as southeastern Turkey. Over a thousand have been documented in Jordan alone. The earliest desert kites are dated to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B period of 9th-11th millennia BP, but the technology was used as recently as the 1940s to hunt the Persian goitered gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa). Ethnographic and historic reports of these activities state that typically 40-60 gazelles could be trapped and killed in a single event; on occasion, up to 500-600 animals could be killed at once. Remote sensing techniques have identified well over 3,000 extant desert kites, in a wide variety of shapes and configurations. Archaeology and Desert Kites Over the decades since the kites were first identified, their function has been debated in archaeological circles. Until about 1970, a majority of archaeologists believed that the walls were used to herd animals into defensive corrals in times of danger. But archaeological evidence and ethnographic reports including documented historic slaughtering episodes have led most researchers to discard the defensive explanation. Archaeological evidence for the use and dating of kites includes intact, or partially intact stone walls extending out for a distance from a few meters to a few kilometers. Generally, they are built where the natural environment helps the effort, on flat land between narrow deeply incised gullies or wadis. Some kites have constructed ramps leading gently upward to increase the drop-off at the end. Stone-walled or oval pits at the narrow end are generally between six and 15 meters deep; they are also stone-walled and in some cases are built into cells so that the animals cant gain enough speed to leap out. Radiocarbon dates on charcoal within the kite pits are used to date the time that the kites were in use. Charcoal isnt typically found along the walls, at least not associated with the hunting strategy, and luminescence of the rock walls has been used to date them. Mass Extinction and Desert Kites Faunal remains in the pits are rare, but include gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa or G. dorcas), Arabian oryx (Oryx leucoryx), hartebeest (Alcelaphus bucelaphus), wild asses (Equus africanus and Equus hemionus), and ostrich (Struthio camelus); all of these species are now rare or extirpated from the Levant. Archaeological research at the Mesopotamian site of Tell Kuran, Syria, has identified what appears to be a deposit from a mass kill resulting from the use of a kite; researchers believe that the overuse of desert kites may have led to the extinction of these species, but it might also be climate change in the region leading to changes in regional fauna. Sport and media Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 2

Sport and media - Essay Example article, the features associated with athletes and the tone used in sports coverage and reports varies according to the ethnicity and race of an athlete. The researchers were guided by four hypotheses that were developed using previous knowledge on ethnicity and racial minorities in the news. Media exposure using race-related messages can provide advantages in terms of identity to whites or majority consumers. They are offered intergroup messages, which support White positive distinctiveness and self-concept. The first hypothesis is that minority athletes are usually overrepresented as criminals when compared to Whites. The second hypothesis is that minority athletes are usually characterized unfavorably than White athletes in the coverage of crime related sports news. The third hypothesis is that crimes associated with minority athletes will be characterized with negative consequences. The fourth hypothesis is that the presentation of crime related sports news varies according to the race of an athlete (Mastro, Bleacha & Seate, 2011). These researchers show that the manner in which athletes are portrayed in crime related news varies according to race. In this case, minority athletes, particularly Black athletes were overly represented as criminals. The researchers used a social identify framework in order to analyze the content in the newspapers systematically. Mastro, D., Bleacha, E., & Seate, A. (2011). Behaviour of Democratic Leaders in organisation Research Paper

Behaviour of Democratic Leaders in organisation - Research Paper Example Organizational behavior addresses the study of how individuals, rather than organizations, behave within the organizational situation. The field of study devotes itself to understand, explain and consequently improve the behaviors and attitudes of people and groups within organizations. A leader who is democratic shares the vision and decision-making processes with others in an organization and promotes higher morale. Studies have shown that democratic leadership has the potential to lead to higher levels of commitment, involvement, satisfaction and productivity among followers (Lee & Rosenbloom 69). This project will research the democratic aspect of organizational behavior of leaders, using a company case study to put more emphasis on the findings. It will further address the problems and challenges facing democratic leaders and propose solutions. A democratic leader is the force behind the motivation and success of an organization. Underlying their behavior is a strong trait of se lf-efficacy, which is also referred to as the social cognitive theory. The democratic leaders apply these concepts to define different areas within the organizational framework. The single aspect that sets leaders with democratic behavior apart from other leaders is the sharing of the processing of making decisions (Choi 249). Democratic leaders focus on arriving at decisions through winning consensus. This is because whenever there is consensus, there is always a greater commitment to tactics, strategies and targets because trust is a key feature of this style of leadership, which correlates well with the conduciveness of the working climate. Even for leaders who are open enough to admit that they are not sure about what needs to be done, a pool of talented employees can contribute excellent input that will move the organization towards it goals (Montana & Bruce 149). The democratic leader understands that employees who have been supported and given time to grow in their careers ca n make efficient team members that understand the organizational culture. On the other hand, being autocratic only suppresses their potential, hindering their growth which is detrimental to themselves, the leader and the organization (Montana & Bruce 112). In the decision-making role of leaders, the democratic ones will acknowledge that as a process, perception is a concept all employees pass through in their everyday activities, in or out of the work setting. They recognize that when employees meet colleagues and other leaders and evaluate performances, pass judgments and ultimately make business decisions, it is their perception of those events that will inform the next action they take. Therefore, whether flawed or accurate, their perception is their reality. The distorting or causal factors to employees’ perception considerably affect the impact of organizational behavior and productivity. Unlike the autocratic or coercive leaders, a democratic leadership will influence i ts followers to shift from tendencies of developing perceptive shortcuts capable of inflecting both negative and positive effects in their making of judgments (George & Jones 31). Therefore, they model and integrate guidelines that direct team members in their processes of making decisions. Such models have an emphasis on shaping corporate perceptions. For instance, although not to mean that they lack authority, a democratic leader does not impose directives on followers. Rather, this style of lea

Kosovo Crisis :: essays research papers

There has been a conflict for quite some time now between the people of once Serbia now Yugoslavia and the Islamic countries bordering them. The grudge can be traced back over 600 years to the first battle. The hatred between the two sides is still endures.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  No one knows exactly when the repugnance started, but the situation was understood. During the time of the Ottoman Empire the Turks were terrorizing most of Europe, ferociously converting people into Islam. The other option was death. The Serbs at that tie were always known for their strong faith in Christianity. So backing down was not an option. The Serbs, until this day have not invaded other countries, only defend what is rightfully theirs. There were other countries that agreed with the Serb’s standpoint so they had forces that joined too. The Serb’s allies include Hungarians, Croats, Bulgarians, Czechs, and Franks. The actual battle of Kosovo took place on June 28 1389. The Serbian’s of who were mostly comprised of peasants armed with whatever they had, and outnumbered, were led by Prince Lazar. Their manpower was about ?. They went into a full on brawl with the Ottoman Turks who were led by Sultan Murad I. their troops reached to above 30,000. Because the Serbs were defending they had the upper hand. Yet, by one strategic flaw the Serbs lost the battle. An unanticipated flank divided the mass of the Serb army and the Turks rolled over them. A very significant part of the outcome was that both Sultan Murad and Prince Lazar perished in battle. The Sultan’s killer became a hero in Serbian folklore; his name was Milos Obilivic. The battle itself took such a toll on the Turk’s forces, that it stopped there quest for conquering all of Europe. As an intimidation, a man known as â€Å"Vlad the Impaler† would put the heads of Turkish soldeirs on pikes along the border of Kosovo. The story says that Vlad was bloodthirsty because of such acts, thereby starting the whole legend of vampires. Vlad the Impaler is also more commonly known as, â€Å"Count Dracula†.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In reality by numbers the battle was definitely a Turkish victory. But the Serb’s point of view was that even though they lost the battle, they had perpetrated their cause. Because of this one fact, there has always been a dispute, and things never get a chance to resolve.

Reflective Practice Essay

Professional development I feel is beneficial for both tutor and student. The process of reflecting on your own practices and having the discipline to be constructive about the actions you take to evaluate your own performance will determine the impact it has in the classroom and the teaching and learning experience. Overall this process has encouraged me to reflect on most of my practices which has helped me to understand my role as a teacher. This development has systematically reinforced the actual reason of why we as teachers perform the way we do. This has given me a boost in confidence because I now have a reason behind meaning. I use my own judgment to determine how well a particular teaching experience had benefitted my learners and whether things went good or bad. From this basic analysis I can adapt and enhance particular parts of a session to create and aim for a better learning experience. This gives me areas to focus on to help develop my skills as a teacher. I have previously focussed on inclusion and worked to move the whole class collectively by supporting them throughout their programme of learning. It is important to have the correct resources and utilise a range of techniques as this is vital in creating an interesting and challenging lesson for the individual. The Knowledge I have gained through developing different areas is becoming very useful and beneficial to my teaching. The increased presence of IT in modern day culture has encouraged the education system to use and follow the trend and integrate more user friendly IT systems into its institutions as well as increase the use of IT in the classroom. I have attended IT training sessions involving VLE’s, Quizdom, SMART board, online portfolios and other online resources. I have learnt to integrate some of this into the classroom. Efficient use of these resources enhances the learning experience instead of overwhelming it. I found most of my learners often prefer traditional teaching techniques as they benefit more from my personal experiences and knowledge which can often prove difficult to convey through the means of IT. I try to reflect on almost every aspect of my teaching and have often evaluated lessons that have been observed. This was a theory session on the topic of Health and Safety in the workplace  mainly focussing on Personal Protective Equipment. This was with a group of fairly young students so I thought I should make the lesson as exciting as possible. I used a range of resources, mainly different types of PPE which I used to demonstrate how to wear and use correctly in order for each item to be effective. I used the different students to demonstrate various items of PPE which made the lesson fun. The students responded very well and were very keen to have a go at trying things on. I used a power-point presentation to cater for the visual learners. I used some graphic images of various accidents in the workplace for the affective domain. I had to ensure that no one would feel uncomfortable with the pictures they were only used as a shock tactic to make the younger students realise that Health and Safety is very important in today’s industry. We had discussed the nature of the accidents and the students became very relaxed and willing to discuss their personal experiences and admitted to entering onto an empty building site to ‘muck about’ this made me re-evaluate the dangers that they were susceptible to whilst ‘mucking about’ on the building site, even though the objective of the pictures was to grab the students attention. In conclusion I was initially shocked to find how open the students were but pleased to know that indirectly I had educated them of the potential dangers of entering onto a building site. The topic of this session was trussed rafter roofs. I thought this subject could easily be put into context and the students would find it very interesting because they could relate to it. We went from simple to complex for example we looked at the reasons why we have roofs to finding out how to make a roof component and then actually put it into practice. I thought this lesson went really well I had put a lot of effort and time into the preparation of the resources I used a range of resources to cater for all the learning styles I used DVD video, white board, A3 paper with drawing boards, and a miniature model of two different types of roofs. All these resources were extremely useful for me as a teaching aid and for the students as a learning aid. It helped to form closure for the students we discussed aspects of roofs then I was able to use the models as demonstrations. The timing of the lesson was fairly accurate and I kept each topic and activity in small sizeable chunks to make the lesson more exciting  for the students. If I was to do the same lesson again I would improve the method of implementing groups and the way I controlled the activities. I received good feedback from the observer and I was graded with a 1 which I was very pleased with This was another theory lesson where I used a variety of learning aids to enhance the learning experience this included a variety of species of wood and also a microscope with a small selection of wood cell samples. All these resources worked very well and the students could relate to the textbook side easier than if without them. The most effective resource was the microscope the students almost seemed excited to discover what was through the lens. Most of the time the student were in groups working on tasks then group discussions throughout. I also used a power-point presentation to reinforce the learning. I received some very good feedback which included strengths and weaknesses I think it is very important to enable to work and improve on my teaching skills. If I were to do the same lesson again I would carefully select individual learners for each group because there was a few dominant learners which meant some of the quieter students didn’t get the most out of the session because louder more confident students tended to answer more questions which suited the quieter ones, on reflection I should have asked more direct questions as opposed to open questions. I think reflective practice is very important because learning gained from one experience can be used and adapted to fit another.

The Problem Of Sex Trafficking - 1622 Words

Part Three: A Solution Analysis to End the Demand In order to decrease the demand for sex trafficking, knowledge of the sources that create it and the factors that perpetuate it is critical. Regardless, if this knowledge is not implemented into interventions that heal the damage sex trafficking creates or, better yet, prevents it from occurring in the first place, it is essentially useless. Opinions on how to stop sex trafficking in general are varied, and suggested solutions on how to stop the demand are no exception. One approach that has been discussed is education and public outreach. One thing that was made apparent throughout the semester in this class was that sex trafficking is a little-understood topic, and interest in it is still gathering. As a result, not only is the current information on sex trafficking insufficient, but the general public understands very little about it. Some people are not even aware it exists. This allows the issue to perpetuate because men purchase services from prostitutes under the assumption th ey are willingly choosing that profession. Hollywood glamorizes prostitution through movies such as Pretty Woman, and while most people understand prostitution is not someone s first career choice, the idea that someone could be forced into doing it usually does not cross the mind of customers.
